WAXED PAPER BAGS.

« A new article called " The Sparks' Waxed Paper Bag " is now being extensively introduced, and ia notiCßble for ita noyelqualities. The exterior ia like any pnpor bag, but tho interior surface is lined with a thin film of fine paraffin wax, which renders the bag substantially air-tight and waterproof, Ihe cost is but trifle more tban the common paper bng. Tobacco, anuff, cigars, &c , put up m these bags are preserved m perfect condition, drying nnd loss of aroma being prevented. In like manner, confectionery, fruit, and other eatables, arc kept intact, wholesome and fresh. As these bags may be translucent, they render the package attractive, and thia adds a desirable selling quality, independent of other merits. Druggists use them for enveloping all kinds of preparations ; grocers find them very deeirablo m preserving, m fresh condition, coffee, tea, dried beef, hams, cheese sugar and other foods. The difference between two packages of coffee, one put up m the ordinary paper bag, and the other in' a Spark's waxed paper bag, is very striking. A pound of coffee m ordinary paper, when brought into a room or car, is scented by everybody at once j but, if a waxed bag is used, the contents cannot be detected s there ia no escape- of aroma, tlio preservation is complete. These waxed paper bags are nho found to bo of superior value for wheat Hour, buckw heat, oatmeal, Indian moal, &c. Tho contents are kept fro»li, and access of moisture or other contamination is prevented. For packing cement, fertilisers &c, the bags are also useful. — Scientific American.
