WILLS, Returning Officer. 18th May, 1889. ri lAKE NOTICE that in pursuance of tho _L powers vested in it by " The Counties Act, 1886," the County Council of the County of Geraldine at a special meeting held on the 17th day of April, 188'J, passed a resolution to tho effect that the By-Law No. 3, called tho Water Races By-Law made by the said Council, under the said Act on the 18th day of July, 1887, and which came into force in tho County of Goraldine on the 15th day of August, 18S7, bo repealed ; and further tako notico that at the aforesaid special meeting tho said Council passed a further resolution to tho effect that, By-Laws applicable to the whole of the syßtem of water works under the control of tho Council, and to the whole County of Geraldine should be mado, and that ttio said By-Lawß should como into operation on tho 15th day of June, 1889. The following are the objects and purport of the said By-Lavfß : — 1. Providing for the proper repair of and the keeping of water raceß free from obstructions, and for the construction and maintenanco of field crossings, fonocß and hedges, by tho oocupiers of land through which a race or wtttor channel shall pass. 2. Providing for an annual chargo (to be fixed by resolution of the Council) to be paid to the Council by occupiers of land abutting upon or adjacent to any aqueduct, race or water channel, the water from which they shall have obtained liberty to uso, and as to tho application thereof. 3. Prevonting tho obstruction of water races either by placing or allowing obstructions to romain therein, or allowing bushes or plants to grow so aB to obstruct the same. 4. Preventing injuries to water racos or anything appertaining thereto. 5. Prevonting tho driving of vehicles or tbo conveyance of any material or machinery across wntor races oxcept at tho appointed crossings. 6. Prevonting tho pollution of water in tho racos. 7. I unishing Porsone for interfering with dams, rcfcrvoirt), bcadworka, buildings or any other thing appertaining to or usod in connection with waler races except by ponniasion of the Council. 8. I'reventing bathing in rcsorvoirs or other parts of wutor races. 9. Providing for the protootion of Rangers and others in tho Council's employ in connection with water races. 10. Preventing trespass on, or nuisances in in wutor racoa. 11.
