THE VIEWS OF A HOLIDAY.

How much relaxation m tho way of special holiday: is requisite for the maintenance of mental and physical vigour, nsks a contemporary. Which are the better at tho end of tho holiday, those who go to extra expense m keeping it, and afterwsrda ulfirm they are so much the [better for it, or those who turn it to a profit of another kind ? For instence, I met a party on Easter Monday driving a bar-row-load of firewood before him. " Hello !" t>-iiii I, " gone into another line of business ?" "Well, no," he replied, "not exactly. But, you see, I had a plant of an old tree and thought I might as well cutit up as I had a chance. There w:is more m that, you know, than going out to-day to spend money." And that man looked very well, didn't' complain a bit about lon of mental or bodily vigour. He was particularly happy and well m making j what he thought was the best of the occasion. And the profit was beyond dispute. And the reverse of this. He was slaving away at his tr»de m the declino of life and complaining of dull times. And I thought how very much hi'lter it would have been for him if he had trundled a few barrow-loads of firewood on a holiday instead of going excursions.
