Pakis, May G. , President Carnot yesterday marched to Versailles attended by an imposing procession to decorate the fountain of Neptune with a memorial tablet in honour of the centenary of the French revolu- ' tion. The President delivered an oration suitable to the occasion in the Hall of 1 Mirrors. The weather was splendid, and large crowds took part in the fete. Atthe beginning of tho proceedings an exsoldier named Perrin fired a blank cart- , ridge at the President while he was leaving tho Elysee. He waß promptly arrested and stated that ho merely fired his rille in order to attract public notice to agrievauce. Ho alleged that he had been unjustly punished and hia wife and children were starving. An excited crowd tried to lynch the man, but did not Bucceed.
