SAMOA.

AFTER THB HURRICANE. By Telegraph. AUCKLAND, ArsiL 26. The steamer Mawhera arrived from Tonga and Samoa to-day, bringing advices from Apia to April 17tb. Matters (political are quiet, ond everybody is waiting the result of the Berlin Conferenco. Mataafu is iu Apia. His men assisted to float the Germoh ship Olgo, although tbo proclamation of warogaioathim had not been withdrawn. Business in Apia is very brisk in consequence of the large expenditure by American sailors. Supplies of all kinds were plentiful, and the Mawhera and Richmond, and other vessels due, would prevent any scarcity. Tbo Adler is not seriously damaged, and could be lloated off if the necessary appliances were at hand. The Trenton and Vandalia are lying side by side as they sank, and there is no chance of floating either of tbem. With the assistance of a diving dress, lent from H.M.B. Calliope, the majority of the guns and stores wero brought up from these vcssela. The remains of the Sbcr are scattered about, a large proportion being under tbe reef where she sank. Very few bodies havo come ashore, and tho notive divers say that a great many oro entangled in the wreok. Xbey have declined to work in recovering tho bodies of those lost in the Eber, ae they assert that the locality of the wreck is infested with sharks. The Nipsic, which waa succeaafully floated, woa fitted with a jury rudder, and arrangemente were made with the Mawhera to convoy her to Auckland for repairs. On a trial trip, however, the machinery broke down, ond the Mawhera towed her back to port. A a she could not be got ready again for at least a week, the Mawhera came on without her. The American sailors from the wrecked wor-ahips ore quortered on shore, anxiously waiting for reseda to toko them to America. Diarrhea and dyaentery were becoming prevalent at tho time of the Mowhero's departure, aad about seventy men were ill from these causes. Very good order prevails, a result due to tho strict discipline enforced by the Admiral and hia officers. The American sailors ore not allowed to visit the German end of the town, and o sentry has been pieced on tbe bridge. A German guard of about seventy men is stationed in tbe stores of the German firms. I
