The following is the Christchurch Corn, Exchange report for the week ending- Friday, Nov. 2nd, 188S :— The English cables received daring 1 the past two days find the English prices on about the same lovel at which they were when the interruption occurred, and locally prices are unaltered, we are cognisant of large parcels having changed hands among merchants, at very satisfactory prices. Second iiuality is in good demand for shipment. Oats have a steady enquiry from Australia, bnt prices do not improve. Potatoes have receded in sympathy with the Sydney advices, which are quoted at 70s. Fresh butter has been offering so very freely that storekeepers have been obliged to reduce their price to snoh a low figure as to make it imperative on producers to commence potting. The young crop3 havo looked all that conld be desired until the strong north-we3t wiads set in and i£ they had continued it would have had a most damaging effect. At time of writing, however, south-west weather has set in, and it is to be hoped that we shall havo a welcome rain. WHEAT. Is in strong demand at — for prime Tuscan 3s lOd to 2s lid, pearl 3s lOd, Hunter's 3s Od. Whole chicken wheat varies from 3s 2d to 3d M, and broken wheat from 23 9d to 3s. OATS. Milling qniot at 2s 3d, short feed 2s Id to 2s 2d, other kinds 23. BARLEY. Barley U to 43 3d for prime milling, and 2s for feed, with little business transpiring. OBASS SEED. Nominally 2s 9d to 33 for machine dressed, 23 to 2g 2d for farmers' parcels. POTATOES. 40s at country stitions. OAIKT PRODUCE. Butter quiet at <xt to 7d. Cheese, good enquiry, at 4d to "A. The above prices are those paid to farmers for delivery f.o.b. at Lyttclton, sacks extra.
