A parag'aph has been going the rounds of the press about the supposed abandonment by Dr Hichardson of teetotal principles, which has been exercising the minds of bis admirers and followers. Mr J. Giles writes te the New Zealand Herald on the subject as follows . — " How the mistake originated I cannot say, but the name of Dr Richardson has been substituted fnr that of a yet more eminent man, the late Dr W. B. Carpenter, the leading physiologist of his day, wai for many years a strong advocate of total abstinence, and habitually preached that doctrine from his professorial chair.
