TO THE EDITOB OP IHB TIMARU HEKALD. Sib, — I hare to record my protest against the manner in which the jams and jellies were judged at the Show, aa niy exhibit, came buck just as it was seat, only one jar of peach jam brine opened. The successful prize-taker liar) one jar opened also, viz , raspberry. Now I should like to know why the Judges did not open jars of the same kind of j.m as it is manifestly unfair to judge peach jam Bgninst raspberry jam. Hud a jar of raspberry jam been opened la each insta- ce I should have been perfectly satisfied with t e result of the judges' derision ; as it is, the jellies and jam were returned to me unopened wiihthe <>ne execution 1 have mentioned and the prize was offered for the best assorted jams Hnd jellies. The prize has been awarded for jams only and that fur jums made from different and distinct kinds of fruit. I am etc , A. Taegusb.
