TIMABIT— Monday, Juno 4. (Before Captain Woollcombo and H. J. LcCren Esq, J.P.s.) DBTOKBS7JESS. A first offender, a mere lad, waa fined 5s for this offence. OB3CBSE lANGUAOB. John Sweonoy, another youth, was charged with using obscene language m the street on tho Queen's Birthday. Defendant said he did not remember it, but he might havo done it " when tho dogs ran after him." A constable stated that the lad used the words complained of while playing with other boys, ho tlion lying down on tho footpath, and obstructing it, somo ladies having to turn off and cross tho road because of tho obstruction. The defendant was a good deal about the streets at night and up to mischief. Captain Woollcombe, addressing the prisoner, said itwas a serious offence. People m the streets are not to bo annoyed by abominable language. He might be sent to (prison for a year for it. Sentenced to three days with hard labor ; to ba kept separate from other prisoners. BBKACH OF KAILTVAY BYB-LAWS. Tom Mewis pleaded guilty to a charge of getting on a train whilst m motion, ntTimaru on the 19th ult. He was fined 6s and costs. Ho aske3 for and was given time to pay.
