WAIMATE— Friday, June |Ist. (Before H. A. Stratford, Esq, R.M.) POLICE CABE3. Andrew Smith was charged with refusing produce hi 3 railway ticket when required to do so by the gunrd of the train ; also with being drunk m a railway carriage, and with using indecent languago m a carriage travelling from Timaru to Studholme Junction. Defendant, who waa defended by Mr Hamilton, pleaded not guilty. Tho guard gave evidence proving the charges, and his testimony was corroborated by Coostiible Beddeck. Defendant was fined £1 on the first charge or -18 hours imprisonment ; £2 on the second charge or f> days imprisonment : and £3 on the third charge or seven days' imprisonment wifcli costs, amounting m tho "whole to 325. Benjamin Goodman was charged with failing to obey an order of tha court to pay 17s per week m support of his wife and children.
