Tko dramatic performance by members of tha Christchurch Working Men's Club to be given m tho Theatre Eoyal this evening bids fair to be a splendid success. We have seen a private letter m referenco to tho pieces m which eulogistic mention is made of the performers and of the perfect knowlcdgo aud conception of their parts. The prices are popular ones and wo hope to see bumper houses. A most successful concert and danco was held m the new schoolroom, Winchester, on Friday, 2nd March. Mr A. W. Ensor, chairman of committee., presided. Tho following contributed to tho programme : — Mrs F. Barker, the Misses Girnson, Bennet, Ladbrooke, and Cox, Messrs Cox, ColtmaD, and Mabin. After votes of thanks had been tendered to tho performers, a most enjoyable dance brought the entertainment to a close. A meeting of the Waimate Hospital trustees was hold yesterday. Messrs Beckett (chairman), Oliver, Murphy, Studholme, Sloe, and Black wero present. A letter was read from Mr Polit respecting tho present master, Mr Chapman, saying m answer to a trustee requiring a list of patients owing money to the hospital, that there was no record kept. Mr Chapman explained tbat with the holp of Mr Sleo, and a list from tho monthly reports Bupplied by the secretary ho had found, after some search, sundry blocks of books, purporting to be accounts rendered to patients. Mr Slee suggested that a ledger bo kept. Th^ master produced a list of debts duo from pationts, made up from tho block books mentioned, to tho amount of £340, also an account showing the sum of £77 16s 2d as having been paid by patients m 1887. The report for the month Bhowed that five persona remained under treatment. Tho paymastergeneral advised that £295 14s Id had been paid to the board's credit. Accounts wore passed for payment to tho amount of £76 13e 4d and tho board adjourned. The usual monthly meeting of the Timaru Cycling Club was held at the club's rooms on Tuesday evening, some 30 members being present ; Mr W. Gunn, president of the club, m the chair. Beforo tho club separated Mr Gunn expressed great regret that, at tho recent meeting, 0. McDonald had not been able to ride m consequence of having broken his arm while training. He said that if McDonald had competed, the Timaru Cycling Club would undoubtedly have made a better record. As it was, tbe members who competed ■sere all comparatively young riders, but nevertheless they fully upheld the club'« reputation.
