AT a Special Meeting of the Geraldine County Council, held on WEDNESDAY, JUNK Bth, 1887, at 11 o'clock a.m. the following special order was made : — That this Council do now strike a special rate in accordance with the provisions of the " Local Bodies Loans Act, 1886," of 3-16ths, (three-sixteenths) of a penny in the pound (£) on all the rateable property in tho Seadown Water Supply District, for the purpose of providing the interest upon a loan of £2500, raised by the Geraldine County Council, under the provisions of " The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886." The said rate to be an annual recurring rate for each year, commencing from the Ist January and ending the 31st of December, and to be payable annually in one sum on the first day of May in each year, for a period of twenty-six years, until the said loan be paid off. The first payment to be made on the first day of May, 1888. This special order is to take effect on tho first day of August, 1887, and will be eonfirmed at a meeting of the Geraldine County Council, to be held on WEDNESDAY, the 13th day of July, 1887. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in pursuance of the powera vested in it by " The Counties Act, 1886," the COUNTY COUNCIL of the County of Geraldine at a Special Meeting of the said Council held on tho Bth day of June, 1887, pasßed a resolution to the effect that a bye law applicable to the whole of the system of water Bupply and irrigation now or at any time hereafter under the control of the Council should be made and that tho said bye law should come into force on the 15th DAY OF AUGUST, 1887. The following are the objects and purposes of the said bye law : — 1. Preventing the obstruction and diversion of water races. 2. Preventing tho pollution of water in water races. 3. Preventing tho driving of vehicles and the conveying of machinery and other material aoroßß water races, except at the appointed crossings. 4. Punishing personß interfering with dams, reservoirs, head-workß, and buildings connected with water races without the consent of tho Council. 5. Preventing bathing in reservoirs and other parts of water races. 6. Protecting Rangers and other persons employed by the Council in connection with water races in tho discharge of their duties, and for this purpose to empower all such personß to enter upon private lands. 7. Preventing trespassers, nuisances, and obstructions to water races. 8. Prescribing the terms and conditions upon which any water race may bo used, and the rates and charges to be paid for water supplied. 9. Providing for the construction of water races and for the bearing of the expenso of same. And notice is hereby given that it is proposed to confirm such resolution at a meeting of the Council to bo held on tho 13th day of July next, at the County Council offices, and that a copy of the said proposed bye law is deposited at the office of the Council, and is now and wQI continue until the said 13th day July next, to bo open to tho inspection of the public during office hours.
