INDEPENDENT ORDER OF ODDFELLOWS, M.U.

LOYAL TIMARU LODGE, No. 5308. The half-yearly meeting of the above Lodge was held m the Oddfellows' Hall, Barnard Btreet, last evening. Bro. P. Thomson, N.G., presided, and there was a very large attendance of members. After the usual business was gone through, Bro. Grandi, P.P.G.M., brought forward for the consideration of the members the amended District Rules drawn up by the delegates appointed by the various lodges belonging to the society. After some discussion these amended rules were unanimously adopted, Bro; Grandi explaining that they were exactly similar to those their lodge had lately been working under. The consideration of Bro. Malcolmson's notice of motion that any members unavoidably absent at the half-yearly summoned meeting of the Lodge, for the election of officers shall have the opportunity of Bending m their votes m writing, duly authenticated by a member of tho Lodge, was adjourned until the next meeting of tho Lodge. Bro. Grandi's notice of motion that the Permanent Secretary's salary be reduced to £20 per annum, paid quarterly, was then considered. After some discussion this wan negatived, and an amendment, proposed by Bro. Targuse that the Permanent Secretary's salary remain as it is at present was carried. Bro. Grandi's second notice of motion, that the Treasurer's salary be reduced to £5 per annum was withdrawn. Bro. Grandi's third notice of metion, that the resolution passed some time back to form a reserve fund of £600 be rescinded was carried unanimously, Bro. Grandi explaining that the money, according to the former resolution, was at p e3ent lying at tho Bank, and they were receiving no interest for It ; but if his motion were carried they would be able to place it m the Post-office Savings Bank and obtain a certain amount of interest for tho money. The election of officers for the ensuing six months was then taken by ballot, Bro. G. Williams being appointed N.G., Bro. J. B. Grant V.G., Bro. B. North E.S.j Bro. W. Marshall Permanent Secr-

etary, Bro. Grandi Treasurer, Dr Reid doctor to the Lodge. It was then proposed by Bro. Mills that they send one delegate to represent this Lodge at the District meeting of the Lodge to be held at Akaroa on July Bth. This was negatived, and an amendment moved by Bro. Rochester, that a member of the Akaroa Lodge be appointed to represent this Lodge, was carried. After the elected officers were duly installed, and votes of thanks passed to certain members and some routine business gone through, the meeting terminated.
