At 10.30 a procession left the volunteer hall led by the representatives of British nationalities followed by the volunteers und their band, and consisting of the cadets and representatives of the Town and Road Boards, Old Identities, Oddfollows, Fire Brigade, Various Trades, School Children, and Drum and Fife Band. Tho procession was under tho command of Captain Hayhurst. It proceeded up the Main Road to Ewen street across the lino to tho Arowhenua Town Belt to Wilkin street, thence to the High School corner and into the Park by the main entrance. The various bodies took up their positions surrounded by the Volunteers, outside of whom were the general public. The Jubilee oak was then planted by Messrs K. F. Gray and E, Lee, the respective Chairmen of theTemuka and Arowhenua Town Boards. Mr Gray then laid the foundation stone of the proposed obelisk and re-christened the park the Victoria Park. At the commencement of the ceremony of laying the foundation stone, Mr Gray was presented by Mr Blyth, on behalf of the Jubilee Committee, with a very handsome, and suitably inscribed silver trowel. The stone having been well and truly laid, the National Anthem was sung by the children and the procession was reformed. The Volunteers marched to the drillshed, and were dismissed, the children returning to the High School where the abundant refreshments provided by the Jubilee Committee were dispensed by the ladies who had kindly undertaken charge of that department. Toys were distributed, but the other amusements of a more active kind were rendered impossible by the incessant rain. About six o'clock m the ovening a brilliant display of fireworks commenced on the open space m front of the pound, under the supervision of theFire Brigade, lasting about an hour and giving great satisfaction to the juveniles. The Jubilee Concert at 8 p.m. m the Volunteer Hall was well patronised, the hall being crowded to its fullest capacity. The programme, commencing with a short address .from the Chairman (Mr Gray), was long and varied and comprised many excellent items. It concluded with the presentation to the town of Temuka by Dr Campbell, of a portrait of Her Majesty the Queen, an excellent specimen of that gentleman's artistic talent. A dance was afterwards held which was largely attended and continued until a late hour. The enjoyment of the audience at the concert, was as usual marred by a display of larrikinism, disgraceful to the roughs themselves and insulting to those who kindly gave their time and talent for the general benefit.
