ADELAIDE MARKETS.

Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, limited, report on the above markets as follows : — wool. During the week aomo 4000 or 5000 bales have been offered at auction, tho bulk of which has been quitted at. fairly satisfactory rates. On Wednesday, 20th inst., wo submitted a catalogue of about 1000 bales, consisting of wools from nearly all tho different districts m tho colony. There was a good attendance with animated competition, but the bulk of the wool wa3 sold to foreign buyers for direct shipment to the Continent. The local fcllmongers still operate with caution, and there is an entire absence of demand on the part of speculators for resale m the London market. SHEEPSKINS. The demand for sheepskins continues good, but buyers are inclined to reduce thoir limits owing to unfavourable news from England. Best merinos are worth from 5 j to 5s 6d each; good ordinary skins, 4s each ; and seconds and inferiors from Is to 2s each. HIDES. Prices are steady, best heavies being worth 3Jd to 4d per lb, and medium 3id to 3id per lb. TALIOW. The demand for local consumption continues steady, and prices are maintained, best mutton being worth £23 to £21 per ton, mixed from £18 to £20 per ton, and irregular lots from 16s to 18s per cwt. Under date October loth, our London house telegraphed as follows : — " Tallow is m good demand. Australian mutton and beef tallow havo advanced £1 per ton." ■wheat. Stocks are so small that the turnover is confined to small sales. The market, however, has been very quiet, but during the last few days we have experienced a rather improved demand. We quote wheat to-day at 5s per bushel at Port Adelaide, piotrn. Business continues vory contracted, but as stocks are decreasing millers show no disposition to accept low prices. Best roller flour is worth £11 10s to £11 15s per ton ; town brands of stone flour, £10 1 5s per ton ; country superfine, £10 10s ; and households, £9, f.o.b. Port Adelaide. DBAS. We havo nothing of importance to report since last week, prices to-day being from Is to Is id per bushel. Pollard is worth Is Id per bushel. OATS. Duty 3d. Tbe market continues qniet. At auction yesterday a further portion of a recently imported cargo from New Zealand was submitted, but only a part found buyers, the balance being withdrawn. Wo quote oats to-day at 2s lid to 3s per bushel. BAHLBT. Duty 9d. Tho market remains unchanged at 4s per bushel for malting and 2s 6d to 2s 9d per bushel for feeding sorts respectively, quotations being nominal. 03ICKWHBAT. Duty 10 per cont. The market is well supplied with Indian, which is selling at 4,3 3d, duty paid. CHEESE. Duty Sd. We have placed several lines of New Zealand, but our market continues quiet, and prices oblainablo hero show little margin for importations. Prime New Zealand is worth 9id per lb.
