Messrs Hoddart, Parker, and Co.'s steamship Wendouree, 3000 tons, which left Melbourne on the 12th inst. for Sydney bas not since been heard of. She bad 18 saloon passengers and 13 m her fore cabin. Feara are entertained for her safety. (Received 5 p.m., Oct. 16th.) The owners of the Wendouree beliere she has been disabled, and drifted, because she has not been reported along the coast since passing the steamship Cheviot. Steamers have been despatched m search of the missing vessel. A heavy gale has been blowing along the coast during Thursday and Friday. The Wendouree's crew numbered 35. [Received 11 a.m., Oot. 16th.l NEW SOUTH WALES LEGISLATURE. A Cabinet Council held yesterday decided that Parliament shall be prorogued on Next Thursday. MUNICIPAL JUBILEE. The report that a payable goldfield has been discovered at Waukaringa, is fully confirmed. One digger obtained a pound weight of gold m one week. One hundred and fifty men are now on on the field. (Eoooived 10.30 a.m., Oot. 17th.) ARRIVED SAFE. Stdnby, Oct. 16. The Bteamsbip Wendonree arrived this evening from Melbourne, all safe. (Received 1.15 a.m., Oct. 18th.) THE WAKATIPU. Oct. 17. The Wakatipu arrived to-day. A BANK DEFAULTER. Melbourne, Oct. 17. The rumour that defalcations bave occurred on the part of an official m one of the banks, is now confirmed. The defaulter is one of the tellers m the Bank of Australasia. The defalcation amounts to LIOOO.
