Young Wellington's sire, Old Wellington (imported), was a pure Clydesdale, counted ono of the best horses imported into Canterbury. Young Wellington was first shown at Ash burton, as a yearling, taking first prize against five others. In 189* he was shown at Timaru and took first prizo, beating five others. At the Timaru Agricultural and Pastoral Association's Show, 1883, he took first prize for the beet bred Clydesdale Stallion, first prizo for All-aged Stallions, and the Champion Prizo againßt the field ; at tbo Timaru Show m 1884 ho took first prize, and again m 1885 he took second prize.
