Slight showers fell during the day, but the weather cleared up later on. The attendance m consequenco was hardly so good ns usual, not more. than fifteen thousand people being present. At the back of tho course Lord William assumed the lead, followed by Sorolla, Coppaleen, Folly, and Jewel, the others being well up. William led round tho bend and into the straight, those nearest him then being Sorella, Coppaleen, and Bravo. PassiDg the stand tho first time round, Ellis' hor3e and Sorella were still closo together j Folly, Highland Mary, and Zeno close up. Monte Christo would not gallop a yard. Passing the seven furlong post Lord of the Lake, William and Bravo wero togethor, separated by scareeiy a neck from Horella, 8.V., Folly, Jewel, ar.d Bohemian. Coming down the homo turn Jewel and Bohomian wont up with a great rush, prominent among tho next contingent being Lord William, Folly, and Highland Mary, the others being out-paced. Bohemian made a great effort, and although ho failed to secure the lead at once, answored his rider's call gamely a hundred yards from tho post. The pace was terrific, and a splendid race ensued between the Jewel and Bohemian. By ft piece of masterly riding the latter just managed to get his head m front, and won by a neck from Jewel, Lord William three lengths away, third. The others came m m the following order : — Folly, Highland Mary, Sorella, Zeno, Coppaleen, Gentility, Bravo, Lancer, Cerise and Blue, and Orphan. Jewel finished with remarkable gameness, and Bohemian ran a great horse. By Jewel's defeat the ring were largo gainers ; but they lost on the other races. Robertson rode Bohemian, and Hales the Jewel. Zeno, Sorella, Folly, and Coppaleen ran well throughout the raco. Time— 3aiin3lJ3ec.
