Melbottrse, Sept. 22. The Wairarapa left this afternoon for New Zealand. WOOL SALES. Messrs Goldsbrongb. and Co. held their opening wool sale of the season to-day, to a large attendance of buyers. For all lots offered there was been competition, and 20,000 bales were sold. Average greasy merino sold at 9d per lb, while good scoured realised twentyone pence farthing. COMMERCIAL. The manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company, Limited, reviewing the local market, reports as follows : — Shipping wheat is steady at 5s 5d to 5s 6d per bushel; malting barley, per quarter, 3s 9d to 'is 6d. New Zealand oats, feed sorts, for which there is a moderate enquiry, 3s 3d to 3s 5d ; milling descriptions are m fair demand at 3s 6d to 3s 7d ; New Zealand oats, under bond, slow of Bale, 2s 6d to 2a 8d per bushel.
