CHRISTCHURCH PRODUCE MARKETS.

Th» following is tho Christchnrch Corn Exchan"6 report for the week ended Friday, the 17th inst. : — i With tho exception of considerable ship- ' merits of potatoes both by merchants and on growers' own account the business m the grain and produco line has been uneventful, and trade generally has been exceedingly quiet. Wheat .continues firm and there aro few sellers, consequently business has been limited. A good many intorprovincial orders aro beinft more favourably oxecuted m tho South. 'Prime Tuscan and Pearl aro changine hand 3 freely at 4s sd, and Hunter's at 4s 3d to 4s 4d. ' Second quality lines aro offering rather more plentifully, and havo not rnqtei than ■ maintained last weok's quotations^ Fowl oorn is wanted at our quotations •'3s 7d to 3s lOd. Oats are without activity. Sellers forcing the market have to submit to a concession m price, but tho majority prefer holding. Current rates are, for prime milling 2s Sd, short fead 2s 3d, Danish and Tartars 23 Id to 2s 2d. There ia an occasional enquiry for clean seed parcels at 2s Gil. Barley is without lifo or alteration m values. Beans and Peas — Plenty of Prussian Blues for seed aro offering but find few hnyers at 4s to -Is 3d. Beans are also quiet at 3s 3d to 3s 4d. • Ryegrass has bnt few orders from tho country districts a3 yet, but holders anticipate an < improvement as soon as tho weather becomes more congenial. Machine dressed wo quote at^3 3d to 5s 6d, clean farmers' parcels atßs9<*to<tsr. Cocksfoot has v demand for prime heavy seed (141bs).upto 4Jd bnt second quality is hard to ctuit over 3Jd to 4d. Potatoes— Wo hardly think that tho atato of the Sydney market warrants tho heavy shipments, hat as it is the only outlet of any magnitude, and as tho 3oason is getting lato, it is difficult to make bettor arrangements. Locally,- prices aro to £2 2s 6d, with fow bnyera. ' : . Dairy produco is without change sinco our last report. Xhaauovo are prices paid to farmers and dolivorcJ f .o.b.'
