FATAL FIRE AT DUNEDIN.
A WOMAN BDBNED TO DEATH. (By Telegraph.) Dcnbdih, Sept. 3. A fatal fire occurred m Walker etreet at bix o'clock this morning, resulting m tbe death of an old woman named Mrs Joyce, better known as " Granny " Joyce. She lived m a ono-roomed shanty at the back of tho Rising Sun Hotel and is supposed to hare been sitting by the fire all night, and then falling asleep foil into the fire. The house which was very old burned very rapidly, and by the time the brigade arrived it was too late to Bavo tho woman's life. Deceased on several occasions was an inmate of the Hospital and Benevolent Institution, but could not be induced to stop m either.
