THE SYDNEY FOOTBALL TEAM.
(By Telegraph.) Wellington, Sept. 3. The Sydney football team arrived nt one o'clock by the Eotorua, and were met by the local team and a. largo number of footballers. They were driven to the Occidental Hotel. The weather promises to bo fine for the match, which will be played m Newtown to-morrow afternoon. The Sydney men will not play at Wairarapa. They understood the country were to come down here and play early on Monday, but the Wairarapa people thought they would go to Masterton. It will be a great disappointment for tho latter, -who had got a good team together, and made elaborate preparations. An attempt was made to postpone tho steamer on Monday, but it could not be done. . Austin, ono of the Sydney forwards, splintered tho bone of his shoulder at Nelson m falling, and will be disabled for some time. They have thus had a man disabled m each match. The ground will be dry to-m»rrow if no rain fnlls, and a capital game is expected. The result of the Nelson match ha 3 made the local mon keen favourites, and they are expected to win comfortably. The team leave for Christchurch on Monday.
