FIRE AT AUCKLAND.
(By Telegram.) Auckland, Sept. 3. Last night a ten-roomed house m St. ' Stephen's Avenue, Parnell, occupied by Mr C. A. Laing of the New Zealand Shipping Company, was completely destroyed by fire. The origin is unknown. All the occupants were absent from the house at the time, but it is conjectured that the outbreak was caused by some sheets whicli were left to air before the fire. Very little of the effects were eavecl. The insurances aro, on the building £500 m the New Zealand, and on the furniture £500. The loss is. nearly £500 over the insurance.
