MACKENZIE COUNTY ROAD REPAIRS.
TO THE EDITOR OF THU TIMAUU UERALD. Sik, — I hope tho gentleman that gets elected for the Mackenzie County Council will do his utmost to have the roads kept m repair by contract instead of day labour as at present, so that labouring men with large families settled m tho district will stand a show of getting work. Even if work is done by day labour, married men should bo preferred before singlo men, and especially single men who are strangers. It is an old saying m this part of the country that unless you belong to tho " ould dart" you can't get a job as surface mnn on tho Mackenzie Roads. Mr Editor, by inserting tho above you will do the labouring men about Fairlie Creek a great favour. I am, &c., One or them. Fairlie Creek, July 26th, 1886.
