As the Express train from Launceaton last night was crossing Bridgewater, about 12 miles from thia city, the swingbridge opened and the engine fell and got jammed against the buttresses. This prevented the carriages following, but the tender turned topsy-turvy and dropped into the river. The fireman and another person are missing, and they are supposed to have been drowned. (Received 8.50 p.m., July 23rd.) INDISPOSED. Sydney. July 23. Sir John Robertson is suffering from, a severe attack of illness. CENTENARY CELEBRATION. Government have under consideration proposals to hold an international exhibition to celebrate the centenary of the foundation of the colony. SHIPPING. The "Wakatipu, from Wellington, arrived this evening, and the Wairarapa sailed for Auckland this afternoon. COMMERCIAL. New Zealand wheat, 4s Id per bushel ; New Zealand oats, 2s 6d ; maize, per 561bs, 3s 4d. Sugar is unchanged.
