WAIMATE FIRE BRIGADE.

♦ A meeting of the Waimato Firo Brigade waa held on Thursday evening in the onginehouso, Sharman street. There was a good attendance of members. . Captain Sinclair occupied the chair. Somo correspondence was road and considered, as was also a letter from tho.Canterbury Firo Inauranco Association, Christchurcli, enclosing a chequo for £25 as a donation to tho brigade Tho secretary wa9 instructed to acknowledge the receipt of tho letter, and also ' to request tho secretary of tho association to favour tho brigado with tho particulars of any alteration that might take placo regarding tho withdrawal of the subsidy from the brigade, as soon as possible, bo as to enable tho brigado to decide what course to pursue in the matter in futuro. Several accounts were passed for. payment. The proceedings terminated with a vote of thanks to tho chairman. Tho following is a copy of the letlor above referred to: — " Boferring to the recent correspondence which has taken placo between us os to the annual donation of £25 from tbis association to your brigade, which WO3 claimed by you for tho yoar 1335, and which for various reasons was held over, I am now directed to hand you a chequo for the amount. At tho same timo I am to intimate that tho association does not bind itself in any way to make any annual grants in the future, iho wholo question of grants "from tho association to town and country firo brigades is now undor consideration, and tbo chairman thinks it only fair to give you, as well as other captains or superintendents of fire brigades, amplo warning that it is quito possiblo that tho donations heretofore mado by the association will not be continued.
