THE ARMED FORCES BILL.

(By Telegraph.) Wellington, May 6. The Armed Forces Bill which the Defence Minister intends to introduco this session will, besides consolidating all existing Acts relating to tho Armed Constabulary, Voluntosrs and Militia, make .provision for tho alteration of tho constitution of tho Militia as follows : — Tho Brst clas9 will comprise unmarried between the ago of 17 and 30 j the Becond class unmarried from 30 to 40 and married men from 17 to 30 ; the third claes will includo unmarried men from 40 to 55 and married men from 30 to 55. All above 55 will be exempt. Mr Ballanco also intends to consolidate all the Acts relating to tho Civil Police, and tho designation of tbeso offioiuls is to be changed to Armed Constabulary. Tho members of the Torpedo Artillery and Armed Constabulary will m future be known as the Permanent Militia Force.
