MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.

Tho ordinary monthly meeting of tho Board was held m the Road Board Office, Peel Forest, on Friday, tho 16th inst. There were presont the Hon. J. B. A. Aciand (Chairman), Messrs Gr. J. Dennistoun, Thow, Tripp, and Mackay. CORBEBPOHBBNCB. The following correspondence was read and considered t— - - ■ From the C)hief Surreyor, Christchurch, returning, the plans of roads proposed to be desdt with under the Public Works Act duly certified to for'that purpose. From the Commisßioriei; of Crown Lands, Chrißtchuroh, forwarding a form- of amondod application for a grant of land oiy the Opihi river, near Fairlio Creek. The Chairman informed the Board that he had signed the application and returned it to the Land Office. .From tho (Jeraldine County Council forwarding a cheque for £133 J.9s 2d, being' a refund of 75 per cent upon subsidy of pates received from the general Government; From the Treasury, Wellington, informing the Board that the sum of £1G 11b 2d had i been forwarded to the credit of the Board, i being the amount of rates duo on Crown i lands. .:•'..'■ ? ,i -■■ From Mr J. After a lengthy discussion it was proposed by Mr Tripp, seconded by Mr Mackay, and parried— "That the petition of Mr Morris and others at Sherwood Downs for a bridge over the South Opuha river b.e sent to My W. Moody, of Timarn, referring him to section 8 , of the Public Works Act Amendment 18f)4,---i which enacts that the construction of bridges • shall belong to County Councils and not to i Road Boards." ' Proposed by Mr Maokay, and seconded by . Mr Tripp— "That the Mount Peel Road f Board agree to pay one-third of the cost of • erecting a bridge over the Opihi river, at the 1 head of tho Totara Talley ,road ; and one- ; half the cost of ft stock bridge over thejSouth,
