READING, ENGLAND, < And 11, Quebn Victoeia St., London, E.O. 316 181 I IMPOSTANT TO SHEEP- ( OWNERS. , DIPPING SEASON 1886. j XTTHICH is the most efEcient, most reT » i ' liable, and most economical SHEEPDIP? THOMAS' ! Carbolised Sheep - Dipping Composition Has invariably, when applied in accordance With the proprietors* instructions, proved to bo the CHEAPEST and MOST EFFICIENT DIP for either Longwool, Crossbred, or Merino Sheep. THOMAS 1 DIP was not only placed first at the Hawkes Bay competition in 1883, being pronounced by the Special Committee to bo superior to tho eight other specifics then competing, including Cooper's, Little's, Tomlinson and Hayward's (Glycerine), Hall's, Jeye's, Logan and Wilson's (uow Hatch's), McDougall's, and Gillard's, but the , report on the wool then dipped, made at the request of tho H.B.P. and A. Association, by the well-known Wool-brokers in London, Messrs Helmuth Schwartze and Co., also placed THOMAS' DIP AT THE HEAD OF ALL OTHERS as regards the wool, as the following extract from that report will show :— "At tho conclusion of the Hawkes Bay trials/ samples of the wool from the sheop ■ dipped were forwarded. by the Association to London for special examination and report, and tho Wool Valuer for Messrs Helmuth, Schwartze: and Co., of that city gave as his award :— ■ > Thomas' — Little or no smell, freo staple k and sound ; good lustre ; soft feel. £ CooPEß's-r-Sligbt smell ; jnore yolk than in others ; fair lustre ; sound staple. ] Little's — Smells strong ; staplo strong j rather dried up j brownish cast. Hail's — Slight chemical smell ; staple : quite, sound; no coagulation of grease; fair lustre. Tomxibson and Haywabd's— Sour smell ; dried up appearance ; and dull look ; rather tender." Thomas' Carbolised Sheep Dip— for many years favohrably known in Tasmania and Victoria as "Hood's Specific," and now greatly improved in manufacture md value ° — when brought ipto fair competition with 1 other curative agencies has never yet been t surpassed or equalled. p It is a cold water dip, easily dissolved, and the cost of application scarcely- exceeds ono ° half-penny per sheep, whilst a' fair applica- 8 tion rarely fails to add one penny per lb to a the wool. . tl Amount numerous letters tho following Are extracts : — From tho Manager of tho Heaton Park Estate 4, (the property of the Trustees of the lato Hon. W. B. Rhodes)! near Wanganui. - "Heaton Park, 21st Sept., 1885. " I have dipped 20,000 sheep with Thomas' f Dip, and have found il effectual in killing tho - ticks and lice, with which some of the sheep were very bad. The wool after dipping is in /. excellent condition, and free from stain, and there are fewer matted fleeces than ever I have known in my flock. The bath is easily prepared, by first dissolving the dip : in hot water, after which it easily assimilates with- '•' Cold water. It is one of the cheapest and beet dips I have used, in an experience fof thirty years. ; "I am, &0., "Robbet WiisoN." ; " Inglewood, Flaxton, Oct. 13, 1885; - ''Messrs Miles and Co., Ohristoharch. " Dear Sirs,— Having just had all my sheep through the yards (dipped on May 4th, 1885), I haTe to express my satisfaction -with .. Thomas' Dip. Tho wool is in nice order, j and I have not seen a tick or other parasite on any of the eheep dipped, nor have I been 5 able to see a tick on any lamb tailed, -whoae dam had been dipped. ■ ' ' ■ '.- " Yours truly, : - ?■ " Phimp 0.
