About two months ago, a four-ton yacht named the Osprey, and a dingy mysteriously disappeared from her mooring m the port. She was supposed to have been Btolen and had sailed for the Islands. Some wreckage on the beach at Moeangiangi revealed their whereabouts, and enquiries show that the Osprey was anchored off Moeangiangi about the time of her disappearance, and during the storm she sank. A boat -was washed up on the beach. It is'supposed the Osprey was spitefully stolen and the boat taken to enable the thieve 3to escape ashore. Wellington, March 29. The Minister of Justice is still communicating with the authorities, and endeavouring to arrange for Mary Morgan, who was charged with infanticide at Oamaru, being tried at the ensuing criminal sessions at Dunedin. At the inquest on the body of. Alexander McQueen, who committed suicide by hanging himself, evidence was given that deceased had displayed a tendency towards insanity. The verdict was that he committed suicide while of unsound mind, and a rider was added that the hospital authorities should have ascertained tho state of his mind before liberating him. The Government has declined to give the unemployed more than 4s per day, and the City Council have been advißed they cannot give legally tho extra 6d per day promised m order to keep faith with the men.
