The frozen meat, ex ship Marlborough, from Oatiiiiru (December 22nd) has been examined and found m good condstiou. ' INTERNATIONAL COPYRIGHT. Mr James Bryce, Under-Seeretary for India, will preside at the meeting which is to be held at the Foreign Office, on Tuesday next, to consider the question of the inclusion of the British Colonies m the International Copyright Convention. GLADSTONE'S SCHEME FOR IRELAND. Mr Gladstone, m his place m the House of Commons to-day, confirmed the announcement previously made by Sir William Harcouvt, th it the statement of the intention of Her Majesty's Government m regard to the Bill for the better government of Ireland, would be made on the 6th of April. FRANCE AND THE NEW HEBRIDES. In the House of Lords E;irl Granville, Secretary of State for the Colonies, announced that the question of the status of the New Hebrides was now under discussion with the representatives of the Australian colonies and suggestions were being made to Trance on the Biibject which might possibly prove agreeable to the colonies. Earl Granville regretted that at the present stage of negotiations he was unable to explain more fully the action of Her Majesty's Government. COMMERCIAL. (Received 5.15 p.m., March 28th.) Consols, New Zealand securities, colonial breadstnffs and tallow are unchanged. Total reserve m notes and bullion at the Bank of England is LU,500,000. The proportion of reserve to liability 41 per cent. The total quantity of wheat afloat for

the United Kingdom is 1,700,000 quarters. Now Zealand frozen mutton has fallen to s]d to s*d per lb. Leather Market. — Australian, lOd per lb. LONDON WOOL SALES. 221,000 bales have been submitted at auction during the past two days. There is no improvement m the market. The total quantity of wool withdrawn from the sales since the opening of the series is 50,000 baleß. THE DORIC. The Shaw-Savill and Albion Company's e.s. London, March 26. At the Liverpool Spring meeting today, the Grand National Steeplechase was won by Mr E. Lawson'a Old Joe, Too Good being second, and Gamecock third. A NEW GRAIN DISEASE.
