Timaru Herald Office, Saturday evening. AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS. Mr D. Maoloan (for Messrs James A. Gracio and Co.) reports for tho past week as follows : — I Horses. — At tho Timaru Horse Bazaar to- , day onr entry comprised 55 head of all classes, the majority boiupf hunter.i and haoka, with :i J fow medium draughts. Theru was a large j attendance of huntsmen and others during tho day, but salos m the limiting class worn difficult to effect, and only a few changed hands, j tho highest prico obtained boir.g for tho wel'- j known gelding Hadlow, purchased by Pulbert ! For the latter there was but Httla demand, and f.«r tho former, old ewes woro disposed of at remarkably low prices, a considerable number changing hands. Lamb 3 worn not much Bought after, but there is a prospect of tho demand for these improving. We solil a small lino of crossbred lambs at 3s G'l and old crossbred ewes from la Cd to 'Is. Privately, we sold 700 <l-tooth crossbred ewes at a satisfactory prioo. Cattlo. — At tho Sonth Cant"rbnry Yarn's on Thnrsday wo sold light-weight steers and hoifera up to £1 2* Gd. Pigs.— Wo sold 21 at 3s, ss, and 93. Messrs Jonaa and Bonrn report for tho week ended to-day : — Wo havo to report a fair amount of business dnring the week, and although prices havo not improved, tho demand is considerably bettor than for several preceding weeks. Wo held a special salo of stock at tho Pleasant Point Saloyards on Monday last, tho 23rd inst. Thero wero over 1000 shoop penned and 80 head cattle. The salo was numerously attended, and tho following will show tho business done :— 4OO crossbred lambs at 3s sd, 6CO J-bred do at 3s Id, 300 do do at 4s 3d, 228 crossbred owes at 4s lid, 1300 crossbred ewes (poor) at 2s 9d, 05 J-bred 2-tooth wethers at 5s 6d, 68 do do at 53 6d, 3GO crossbred 2-tooth ewes at 5s sd, 155 J-bred ewea at Is 2d, 1228 merino ewea at GH, 9d, lid to 13 lid. 35 store pigs at 33 Gd to Bs. 35 hand store cattle, yearlings to two-year-olds, from 2Gs to £3 10s, 14 calves at 13s. Horses. — Wo are ploased to havo to report a slight improvement m tho horso market. Onr entry to-day was largor than usual, and we Buccoedod m selling the greater portion of tho entry. Wo sold a team of 6 draught horses, waggon, and harness, on account of Mr Walter Allan, and 9 others for various owners. Tho salo was well attended, and the prices obtained fully up to ownei'3' reserves. We quoto heavy staunch draughts from JilG to .£22, medium do from £9 to £\5, light harness horac3 and hacks from .E5 to .£9 103, according to stamp and qnality. Meßsrs William Collin3 and Co., auctioneers and produce merchants, report as follows :— Wheat. — In good demand at the following quotations, delivered at Timaru railway station or at store by dray : — Tnsean 3a 4d to S3 6d, velvet 3s 3d, red chaff 3s Id to 3s 2d, fowl wheat, brokon 2s 3d, whole 2s 9d to 3s. Oats remain quiet, ponding orders from Australia. When that arrives, no donbt there will bo great activity. Holders aro very firm. Canadians are worth 2s Id to 2s 2d, Tartarian 2s, Danish Is lOd to Is lid for prime, Is 8d for thin and discoloured. Derwent potatoes, 403. Oaten wheat chaff 55s per ton, oaton straw 32s Gd, clover hay GOs, ryo 50s. Prime butter, Bmall kegs, UJ. Inferior lots aro unsaleable. Onions, £1 por ton. QPeas, blues, 33 Gd per bushol. Beans. — None offering. Honey, 2id to 3d por lb. Malting barley, 2s Od to Rs, fcetl Is Oil to 2s. Eggs, by auction to-day, brought Is Gd doz. Fresh bnttor, Is. Bacon, 6d. Hams, 7d. Apples, local grown, 7s per ease.
