"VTOTICE is hereby given thai a Meeting ■l^i of the Gerald'ine County Council will he held at the Geraldine County Council Offices, Strathallan street, Timaru, on WEDNESDAY', the fourteenth day of April, 1886, at the hour of 11 o'clock m the forenoon, to confirm n Rc?olut : ou passed at a Special Meeting of the said Council on Wednesday, 10th day of March, ISSfi, making the following By-law : — A By-law of the Council of the County of Geraldino, made under " The Counties Act, IS7G " and the several Acts amending the same. In pursuance of the said Act and of Section 23 of " The Counties Act Amendment Act of 18S0,"nml of all other poivcs and authorities enabling them m this behalf, the Council of the County of Geraldine ordain ns follows : — I. That the weight, of any Traction Engino crossing or being driven over either of the following Bridges, namely, the the Bridge over the Opihi River on the Main Road be.ween Timaru and IVtnukii, within the County of Geraldine, and tho Bridgo over tho Waihi River nt Gcnddinc, m the County of Geraldine, hclwecn the hours of sunrise and sunset, shall not exceed twelve tons. And the weight of any load drawn by such Engine bclwccu the aforesaid bouts shall not exceed two tons. Provided that if the. suid Traction Engino bo separated from tho load drawn by it a distance of not less than forty feet il shall be law fill for the t aid Traction Engine to bo of any we- ghl not exceeding twelvo tons, and for the said load to bo of any weight not exceeding twelve tons. 11. The weight of any Traction Engine crossing or being driven over cither of tho following Bridges, namely, the Bridge over the Opihi river on the Main Bond between Tiimnu nnd Temuka, within the County of Geraldine, and the Bridge over* the Waihi River at Geraldii.e," wit,' hi the County of Geraldine, after the hour of sunset and before tho hour of sunrise, shall not exceed sii tons, and the weight of any load drawn by such Engine between the said hours shall not exceed two tons, 111. The weight of any Traction Engino crossing, or being driven over the following Bridges, namely, the Bridgo over the Orari river on the road between Geraldine and Peel Forest, within tho County of Geraldine, and the Bridgo over the Temuka river, en the Mniu Road between Timaru and Temuka, within tho County of Geraldine, shall not exceed six tons, nnd tho weight of any load drawn by any such Engine shall not exceed six tons. IV. No Traction Engine shall proceed at a greater pace m crossim 1 , or being driven over any Bridge within the County of Geraldine, than at tho rate of two miles per hour. V. The Ownor or Driver of any Traction Kugino or load drawn by any Traction Engine used contrary to any of the foregoing provisions of this By-law, shall on conviction for every such broach respectively, be liable to a penalty of not exceeding Five Pounds. VI. This By-law shall come into operation on the First Day of May, 18S(i. IT has been decided by tho Officers of Iho Timaru Garrison Corps to EKECT A DBILLyHED at a cost of about £800. To accomplish this they have only the gum of £300 granted by the Government, and it is proposed to raise us much as possible by PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION to lesson the heavy liability incurred by the A'olunteers.
