Tho approaching completion of the AdolaideMelbourne railway is causing the Commissioner of Public Works of South Australia to devoto considerable attention to the probable traffic arrangements. Of course (says tho South Australian Advertiser) nothing has yet been definitely settled, but an attempt will be made to run trains between Adelaide and Melbourne m 18 hours. Tho journey from Adelaide to Servicetown, the boundary station, will, it is expected, occupy eight hours, tho distance being 180 mile 3. From Servicetown to Melbourne tho distance is 310 miles, and this will have to be run m 10 hours if the expected rate of travelling is to bo accomplished. Our section of tho line will m all likelihood bo opened m April, but tho Victorian portion will not bo completed for about six months. The question of fares has yet to bo considered ; but taking tho through rale at 2d. per mile, the amount would bo £4 la Bd, and it is moro than possible that thero will be a reduction on this sum.
