General Prendergast reports that the British troops encountered a force of some four hundred insurgents on Yemethen Road. The rebels were taken by surprise and quickly dispersed, leaving sixty of their number killed and a great many wounded. London, March 25. . COMMERCIAL. Consols remain at 100|. New Zealand securities — 5 per cent 10-40 loan, 101£; 4|- per cent 1879-1904 loan, 102 J; 4 per cent inscribed stock iB quoted at 102. The Bank rate is 2 per cent, and the market rate li per cent. J At to-day's [wool sales there were catalogued 12,000 bales. The market remains quiet.
