'.'. • . ! Mr Talbot, m speaking- of the Waimate County Council account ,that had to be refunded, said sending ' the account with: out full particulars Was very unbusiness-like'. Mr Hayes did not see why there should be so much demurring over> the'account, when the Chairman of the County Council had certified to it being correct. After a long discussion the following resolution was; pro ; posed by Mr Clulee, seconded by the Chairf man, and carried — "That the account rendered by the. " "Mr Talbot remarked that, unless the Government continue the subsidies, a rate would have to bo struck, and this would be'a; serious thing. Bis idea was, supposing the Board undertook the work, that it would bo, gone on with. at. once, and part of it come under this year, and a portion of the cost under next year. '■Mr Cltiiee thought that' would not suit the Hospital^ If it was to bo done it must all bo done this year, and divide the payment into three years ; the work could not be divided. Tho Chairman said the amount wanted was £3500, and the Board got £1500 from the Government. He thought they could raise £1000 extra this year, and get the other with a loan. .... _ ....... Mr Clulee wanted to know who was going to lend the £1000, to which the Chairman replied ho thought, tho Bank would do that on Hospital security ; they would do it on the authority of theAct. Mi* Talbot said it would take the architect pt least a month to prepare the specifications, and by that , time :.tho question would be before them as to being able to finance, and it would give the public plenty of time to see what they were doing- Ho thought it beat not to put the architects to the trouble of finishing the plans, Ac , arid . then find that they could not do so. -'"'.,' Mr Hayes thought it best to let everything Remain, m abeyance till, the, '. Finance Co-m---ririttee had arranged everything satisfactorily. That would not be putting it: off more than a month. Mr Clulee said everything must.be done before the end of the -month. After a short .discussion, /it was proposed by Mr Clulee, seconded by Mr A . Hayes, and carried— " That 'aßpecial meeting of the Board be held on the 30th irist. to consider estimate of reserve and expenditure for the ensuing jear, and that m the- meantime the Chairman and the mover bo appointed a Committee to ascertain whether satisfactory financial arrangements can be mado for including m the .said estimate addition to Hospital as per plan submitted by Messrs Meason and Marchant." • , /; ' ■■■'..■ INBUEANCK3. .-' : The Chairman stated that tho Hospital buildings: had been insured in' each of the local offices • for £900, and the furniture for £100.
