SPORTING.
The weather round Wnimato continues dull and showery, and tho going on tho course to-day will bo rather heavy. Considerablo dissatisfaction lms been caused' by the ill-advised proceedings of ono or two trainers who, contrary to rule, wero exercising their horses on Monday on the track, instead of on tho ground set apart for training. Tho result of this trespass has been to cut up the course severely, and though the Committee immediately attempted to repair the damage, tho truces of tho horses m tho heavy ground aro yet distinctly diseernable. For the nurdlcs, Borderman is the favourite, and despite his welter weight, should give a good account of himself. Still, list 71b is a big weight, and should Boco, who only carries 9st, be m. form, ho might bo close up. For the Jblarvest Handicap Jack is much fancied, and he and Quibble aro both backed for St. Pfttriok'3 Handicap. Tho Time Trot is a vory open affair, tho two goratch horses having rather the call— Bella, and tbo Dunedin horso, Silver Bell. The lattor eamo up on Monday, and trotted thrco miles iv grand style, his action and pace being much admired. Bella is hardly sufficiently trained, but she has time and again provod herself a good mare, and is fairly supported.
