This match came off yesterday on the . South Canterbury Caledonian Society's [ grounds, and resulted m a win for tbe Mechanics by 4 wickets and 5 runs. Owing . to the unsettled state of the weather only , seven of tho. Mechanics' team rolled up. In ■ their first innings they put together. 65 runs, W. Peters with a well played '32, not out, being top scorer. Tbe combined team made • 41 m the first and 31 m the second innings, \ Gority being the top scorer with 9 and 10 ■ respectively. The Mechanics requiring 6 runs to wia went m for their second innings, < and when time was called had put together 13 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Tho following are the scores : — Mechanics.
