March 10. Mr D. Stronaoh reports for tho week ended March 10th as follows :— Fat Cattle — 202 head wero yarded at BnrnBide for to-day's market, representing all qualities. Competition for good and prime was fairly active, although prices wero scarcely so good as last week's. Bidding for ordinary quality laoked Bpirit, and prices were also lower. Best bullocks brought .£8 15s to .£9 03 ; medium £6 5s to £8 103, light weight 5s to .£5 17s Cd, cows from .£3 5s to £7 12s. Fat Sheep— 2l4B were penned. Of these 450 were morino3, and the balanco crossbreds, some of which wore very little bettor than stores, and almost unsaleable. Competition for good and prime mutton was moderatoly active, but tho prices obtained wore not quite up to last week's. Best crossbred wethers brought 8s 6d to 9s 9d ; others 6s 9d to 8s 3d, best do ewes 7a to 10a 3d, low to medium is 3d to 6s 9d, merino ewes 3a to 3s Gd, do wethers 4s to ss. Grain — Wheat is only m moderate demand, and for immediate requirements. Bayers aro apparently disinclined to cuter into transactions of any weight at present quotations, but if tho latest statistics of the Australian wheat yiold are near the mark, showing that oveu if wo do not ship a bushel to the United Kingdom, we are deficient, 3,200,000 bushels of wheat being probably required for consumption m New South Wales, Qaoensland, and tho various othor ports south of the eqnator, thoro shonld be a hotter prospect of prices being more remunerative to tho grower. Wo quote prime milling at 3s 7d to 3s Bd, medium 3.3 5d to 3a Gd, inferior 2d Gi to 3s 4;1, bag 3 weighed m. Oats — Theso aro only m limited demand. A few sales havo been mado for shipment daring tho lnet week, but prices aro easier. Stocks, however, are not heavy, and, if not forced, present quotations might remain firm. "Wo quote prirrio Btont milling at 2* 2d to 2s 3d, bright short feed 2s to 2? Id, medium 13 lOd to 2s, inferior Is 3d to Is 9d. Barley — There are no transactions as yet passing iv this, and prices are nominal. Byegrass Seed — Tho seed is m. fair domand at from 3d 3d to 4s 6d for undressed old pasture.
