# ■ — - 1 The ordinary monthly mooting of the Bourd waß held yesterday. l MEMBKBS PBESENT. Messrs W. Moody (Chairman), Orbell, and Sims. MINUTES. Tho minutes of the last meeting wero read and confirmed. 1 COKBESPOITDStfCE. The following correspondence was read and 1 dealt with : — From Mr Ormsby, requesting the gorse to be cleared off the road near his proporty, as m cose of fire it would stand m great [ danger. ■ The Overseer fltated that the matter was ' being attended to. From the Mount Peel Road Board, m reference to a road leading to tho Opihi river, near Raincliff, stating that they were willing to leave a road line as asked for, provided the Levels Road Board bore the cost of 1 same. Tho Chairmaa was asked to Bee the manager of the Baincliff estate m tbis 1 matter. From Messrs Howell and others, asking ■ that the Gays' Pass road be improved, and that some portions of it be shingled. The Overseer was ordered to report fully ■ at next meeting. From Messrs Holwell, Cargoe, Smith, and • Cain, calling attention to the stato of the . road near tho Arowbenua railway station. Tho Overseer was instructed to write to i Ihe Railway Engineer, asking to be allowed to i repair the road, ns it is on the railway i reserve,

From Mr Pelvin, calling attention to the road near his property. The matter was referred to the Overseer to report upon at next meeting. From the Secretary to the Caledonian Society, m reference to a road leading to their grounds. The Clerk was instructed to reply that when a road is laid out by the Government, the application will be entertained. From Mr W. O. Fendall, stating that the fence put up by the Board on his land was not sheep proof, and that proper flood-gates had not been put up. The Overseer stated that the matter was being attended to. From the Timaru Borough Council asking payment of £72 10s, share of the maintainance of the West Town Belt since January, 1883. The Clerk was ordered to ask for details of payments applied for. From Mr verity and Mr Jones asking for repairs to tho Three Mile Bush road. The Overseer stated that stone was now being placed on the road m the worst places. Complaints were made of a drain running at tho back of Mrs Macintosh's premises, on Wai-iti road, and the Overseor was instructed to attend to tho same. A communication was received from the Chief Surveyor m reference to tho stoppage of roads. The matter was left to the Chairman. I OUTSTANDING BATES. The Chairman called attention to the amount of outstanding rates, when it was resolved— " That the Clerk advertise that all outstanding rates for the current year be paid | before the 31st of the present month, and that all arrears of the previous year be summarily dealt with." SITBFACBIIBN. Resolved—" That the wages of the surfacemen for tho future be 6s per day. OTBBSBEB'S BErOET. The Overseer's report was read as follows : — " I have had the road opened by Mr Bland Smith's land to give access to the Mount Gay School, as requested. "I havo written to the Mount Peel Road Board m rcferenco to Messrs Inman and others' application for a road to the Opihi River, tho answers to which will be beforo you. " I would recommend that tho shingling of the road as appliad for by Messrs Munro and Cromie from the end of tho present shingle to Hampton's bo done, also that the road through Campbell's Reserve be formed and drained. Tho lower road leading to Robinson's requires about 10 chains of shingling, and fords repairing, the cost of the whole work will not oxceed £ . "It was necessary to put on the surfaco men to keep tho roads m repair. " I have had the Tengawai Bridge repaired, as instructed. I havo also had to replace a number of tho deck planks on the Pareora Bridge, as they wero perfectly rottten. " The hill near Mr White's requires repairs with broken metal, as the heavy trallio at this season leaves it m holes." Tho Overseer was instructed to call for tenders for shingling tho road referred to by Messrs Munro and Cromie. The Board decided to charge half the cost of decking the Pareom bridge to the Waimate County Council. Tho Overseer was instructed to procure metal at last, contract price for repairing the road noar Mr White's. TBNDEBS. Tozer, £147 5s : Thomas Kerr, £80. Contract No. 27, forming uppor portion of McKenzie Road— M. Corkery, £63 10s (accepted) G. Crozier, £94 ; J. Frost, £76 5s 6d ; P. O'Connell, £171 3s ; P. Burke, £61 D. Sullivnn, £70 13s 4d ; T. Kerr, £80 j N. P. Bracefleld, £114. Contract No. 28, shingling Robinson's Road— M. Corkcry, £75 ;J. J. Connor, £16 13s 4d (accepted) ; G. Crozier, £56 13s 4d ; P. Burke, £60 ; D. Sullivan, £76 13s 4d ; N. P. BraceDeld £60. Contract No. 29, forming Campbell's Road — J. Connor, £24 7s 6d ; D. Hughes, £19 10s; J. Frost, £26 ; H. Fitzsimmons, £21 2s 6d ; I Jos. Blair, £27 10s ; Jas. Rodgers, £14 17s lid (accepted). Contract No. 30, shingling Miller's road — Wm. Jones, 2s Gd per yard ; J. Cartwright, 2s por yard (accepted.) Contract No. 31, shingling road at Kensington — D. Hughes, £13 83 6d (accepted) ; P. Stratford, £17 10s ; R. Kerr, £23 6s 8d ; J. Kodgers, £16 6s. Contract No. 32, re-forming Rutherfurd's road— G. Crozier, £31 13s 4d ;W. Stcvonson's£l9 2s 6d (accepted.) ACCOTWT3. Accounts amounting to £158 wero passed for payment, and the Board then adjourned.
