The first day's racing under the auspices of /. the Wanganui Jockey Club took place to-day, j Beautiful weather was experienced and the ; attendance was about 2000. Tho racing was "' very good and only one accident occurred to mar the success of the meeting. This was m the hurdle race, m which Druid fell, throwing his jockey Fitzherbert and breaking his collar bone. Tho amount of money put through the machines to-day wan £3945.
