It ia expected that Messrs Service and Berry will tender their formal resignations early next week and Parliament will dissolve about the, 20th February. Sydney, Feb. 12. The Government hava resolved to abandon the proposed (cheme of taxing the stocks held by merchants m their warehouses and stores. A somewhat serious collision took place outside th<* Heads at an early hour this morning between the steamers Newcastle and Naomi. There was a thick fog at the time, which prevented the vessels seeing each other. The Newcastle sustained a considerable amount of damage, while the injury to Ihe Naomi is of but a slight character. (Received 10 p.m., Feb. 12th.) Sydney, Feb. 11. The s.s. Mararoa arrived this morning with the inward San Francisco mails. It has been ascertained that m the collision off the Beads this morning between the Newcastle and Naomi both vessels sustained great damage, though fortunately none of the passengers or crews were injured. New Zealand wheat is quoted at 3* 3d per bushel ; New Zealand oats, 2s 4d ; maize, BGlbs, 3i 3d. Sugar maintains its previous quotation.
