TIMARU BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Tho election of a councillor for the NorthEast Ward of the Borough of Timuru to fill the extraordinary vacancy caused by Councillor Gibson's sent lapsing through nonattendance, took place yesterday, and resulted m the return of Mr" T. G. Rowley. The polling wa3 proceeded with quietly, and but little general interest was taken m it. It will ba seen below that tho election was a very close one. The figures are as follow : — Votes. Thomas Griffiths Bowlcy ... 65 Moss Jonas ... ... ... 04 John Crawford... ... ... 13 William Bourno 8 The Returning Oilicer (llr E. 11. Lough) declared the result shortly after G p.m., and declared Mr Rowley duly elected.
