[By Tkluuuafii.] Wellington, Jan. 22. The first day's racing under tho auspices of the Island Bay Racing Club were run at Island Bay to-day. The attendance was estimated at about 60J, among whom were Admiral Try on and the officers of H.M.S. Nelson, Sir George Whitmore, the lions. P. A. Buckley, J. A. Tolo and G. McLean. Great delay took place at the starting posl, and there were fully a dozen false starts. When the horses were sent away, they were all over the field. Capsizo made an effort to catch tho leaders when near the road, but soon died away again. Entering the straight Little Scrub passed Miss Dargon, but Athol Daisy came with a brilliant dash, and, cutting down horso after horse, soon had the premier position, which eho maintained to the finish, beating Little Scrub by a length, who i:' '<!■■ turn was two lengths ahead of Miss .Dargon, Rumor fourth.
