FIRES.
(BY Cable— Rrotek's Agency.) (Received 10.30 p.m., Jan. 13th.) Melbourne, Jan. l3, 6 p.m. Another great fire broke out this afternoon in Messrs Jones and Co.'s bonded stores, Sandridge. At the present time it is yet unextinguished. Particula s are awaited and will be telegraphed later on. (Received 1.30 a.m., Jan. 14th.) 10 p.m. Tho fire at Messrs Jones and Co.'s bonded store originated near tho debris of the recent conflagration. The fire is now extinguished, but the damages havo not as yet been ascertained.
(By Telegraph.) Aucklaxd, Jan. 13. Iu the bush fire at Kaipara 200 cords of firewood and a quantity of growing bush wore burnt. The railway bridge was burnt through cinders from a locomotive. New Plymouth, Jan. 13. A steady rain fell yesterday at Stratford and during tho night here. Tho fires are therefore practically out, and all danger is over. _ | Subscriptions are still coming in. Among | the large amounts are— Bank of New Zealand, £00 ; officers of the Property Tax Department, Wellington, £15 ; Northern Steam Navigation Co., £15. The subscriptions hero now amount to £700.
