(By Telegraph.) Wellington, Jan. 9. The steamer Wairarapa, which left here laetnightforSydney via Auckland and the East Coast, returned to port this morning, having bent her piston rod. Bepuirs have been commenced, but it is unlikely she will leave again befure to-morrow afternoon. The Hawea loft the Manukan with the southern portion of the niaih at 1 p.m. to-day, and tho Wanaka for Lyttelton will bo detained here until tho Hawea's arrival tomorrow afternoon. I Jan. 10. H.M.S. Nelson arrived m harbor from Auckland between two and throe o'clock this afternoon. Colonel Whitmoro returned from Napier this morning by the Mannpouri and will, it is understood, accompany Admiral Tryon when the Nelson visits Lyttelton The steamer Wairarapa having effected repairs to her piston rod sailed for Napier and Auckland at noon to-day. The Euapehu arrived from Jjyttolton this morning. The Hawea with the southern portion of the San Francisco mail is expected to arrive here about ten o'clock to-night. The Grafton will take on the southern mails and will leave for Lyttelton übout midnight.
