; LYTTELTON REGATTA. I (By Tbleobaph.) i Lyttelton, Jan. 1. i Tho Lyttelton Regatta passed off vory i i successfully, though the wind m tho morning > was rather light. The water was excellent I I for rowing races. There wu< a large number of persons preeent, over 6000 travelling by train from Christchurch. 'Iho Four-oared i Race was won by the Kuiapoi crew, the other ■ two boats, both of the Dni n Rowing Club, ' being swamped. The Senior Double Scull* was won by the Union Rowing Club's boat, ' the Kuiapoi boat, which came m first, bcinj disqualified for taking tbe wrong course. Five vessels atarto iin tho Chanifion Trading Race, which was won by tbe Herolatter, of I.yttelton ; the Kecamia, ketch, wa» I second. The Yacht Race was ono of the i finest seen hero. Kight boats entered, the Isca, of Wellington, winning easily. Thero was a keen contest for second place, which was gained by the i.ittle Wonder, of Lyttelton, the Zephyr, of Akaroa, being third. ; The laca'a timo was four hours three minutes.
