Thn greater portion of these were good to prime, the balance only medium. The attendance at the yards was small and compotiton lacked spirit, prices showing bat little improvement on last week. Best bollocks brought £8 10s to ,£IU, ordinary .£5 15a to £8, cows m proportion. Fat Sheep. — 1385 were penned, nearly all croßabreds, and of good to prime qnality. Although this number was much below tbe avenge, it proved quite sufficient for requirements. Prices realised were slightly higher than those of laat week. Best crossbred wethers bronght 10a 9d to 11s 6d, crossbred ewes and mixed sexes from 6s 3d to 10s 6d, merino wethers os 9d. Grain. — Wheat — During the past week the market h&e been quiet, the Christmas holidays having to a great extent interrupted business. Transactions have been qnite unimportant, and tharo is hardly any change m quotations, which we give as follows: — Prime milling wheat, velvet, 3a 3d to 3s 4|d ; medium, 3s Id to 3s 2d ; inferior and fowls' wheat, 2a 6d to 3a, ex store (baga weighed m). Oats — These continue m moderate request for shipment, bat the priceii aoked are at the moment preventing more business being done. Stocks, however, of good bright oats are very light, svnd the reports from the surrounding districts give hopes of bnt a very light crop, and therefore we are not disposed to expect any material reduction m valne. On tbe contrary, indications are not wanting now which point to an advance m price. We quote stout bright milling la lOd to Is 10} d, short bright feed la 8d to Is lOd, medium Is 8d to Is Od, musty and discolored Is 3d to Is 7d. Barley — There is no demand of any consequence to note, and fair is worth Is Od to 2s, milling 2s 3d to 2s Bd, malting nominal 2a 9d to 3s 3d. Grass Seed- There is no market at present for seeds, nor do wo anticipate any before antamn.
