Goidsbrough and Co. held their nsual weekly wool sale yesterday i afternoon when the catalogue comprised 4300 bales, of which 3900 were sold. Buyers attended m large numbers and > the bidding was spirited throughout, the I market ruling very firm. The latest ' prices for greasy merinos ranged up to ' lOJd, while 18Ad waa paid for a parcel of scoured wool. (Received 2 p.m., Dec. 24th.) ' Adelaide, Dec. 24. The Orient Company's s.s. Orient has arrived from London with the mails to Nov. 20th. LReoeived 3.15 p.m., Dee. 24th. ! Melboubnb, Deo. 24. . The difficulty between the shipowners and wharf laborers remains unsettled. There is, however, a possibility that the satire question will be postponed for a month ; failing that, the masters will obtain men from the other colonies without any farther delay. [Received 1 a.m., Dec. 25th.] Sydney, Dec. 24. Bailed, this evening — Waihora, s.s., for New Zealand. The newly-fortoed Ministry is considered to be a very weak combination, and it is not expected Sir John Robertson will be able to hold office long. No fresh cases of sickness are reported on board the s.s. Dorunda, and the patients at present quarantined are stated to be progressing satisfactorily towards convalescence. (Received 5 p.m., Deo. 25th.) Melbourne, Dec. 24. The usual weekly wool sale of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited), took place this afternoon at their rooms. There was a large »ttendance of buyers, and the catalogue ' comprised 4000 bales. There was spirited competition. Greasy merinos ' brought as much as 2d (1) pac poiind, ' while greasy crossbreds fetched as high as ! lOJd. Scoured wool sold up to lC|d.
