MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Board was held m the Road Board Office, Peel Forest, on Friday, the 18th intt. MEiIUBKS PEBBENT. The Hon. J. B. A. Ackland (Chairman), and Messrs A. Hawdon, C. G. Iripp and G. J. Denniston. minutes. Tho minutes of the formor meeting were TENDERS. Tenders for No. 35 contract, Bhingling Mount Peel Road, were opened, as follows : —William Lewis, £34 7s 6d ; James Beckley, £33 10s ; Thomas Corkery, £32 103 ; R. and S. Rac, £26 (accepted). COBBESPONDEKCE. The following correspondence was read and considered : — From the Chairman of the Railway League, Christchurch, requesting the Board's cooperation m having the East and West Coast Railway constructed. The Clerk was directed to acknowledge the receipt of the letter. From Mr Eugeno Lorgelly, requesting the Board to shinglo the cutting on the cross road near his house. Tho Overseer was instructed to report upon tho work required at the next meeting of the Board. ovebseee's eepoht. Tho Overseer's report was read, when it was resolved m connection therewith — " That with reference to the Cl.iyton Stock bridge, as the expense of repairing and extending it would be very considerable, and unless it appears to be the wish of the ratepayers affected, the Board does not think it would be justified m carrying out the work." Resolved — "That notice be given to ratepayers having gorse growing on roads adjoining their properties to clear off the same before next Board day, otherwise legal proceedings will be taken." Resolved — " That tho Board authorise any ratepayer to collect any stones on their land and stack them by the side of the roads m convenient heaps, as may be approved by the Overseer, for the purpose of being subsequently broken by tho Board into road metal." Tho Overseer was instructed to attend to the gate leading into the gravel reserve near the Scotaburn School. Resolved— "That tho price for breaking road metal for the future be three shillings per cubic yard." ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £301 4s were passed for payment, and tho Board then adjourned.
